Meat or turkey carcass sampling kits

Designed according to the international standard ISO 17604, which is taken as a reference on European Directives and Rules about Microbiology of food and animal feeding stuffs.

COMPONENTS:

  • A glass bottle with tamper evident cap, containing 25 ml sterile buffered peptone water.
  • A Whirl-Pak bag containing a sterile sampling sponge.
  • A disposable sterile template (sampling area of 10 x 10 cm), supplied in a zip-lock bag.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Put on a pair of sterile gloves (not included).
  • Open the bag containing the sponge and then pour half of the peptone water inside the bag in order to moisten the sponge.
  • Swab the carcass with the sponge through the template in those places specified on the rule (usually four).
  • Return the sponge to the bag and add the balance of the peptone water.
  • Close the bag and sent it to a lab (see how to close WhirlPak bags on page 92).
