E.S.R. semi micro system TAKIVES with self-levelling system
Single-use pipette system with stand and citrate tube for the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test, following the Westergren Method recommendations (ICSH reference). Sodium citrate acts by precipitating the Ca++ ion in the blood, thus preventing coagulation.
Usage recommendations:
1. After performing the blood draw according to the standardized procedure of each center, the blood is drawn into the tube up to the nominal level and mixed with the additive. It is recommended that the test be performed within the first 4 hours. If the test is to be performed between
4 and 12 hours after collection, the sample should be stored refrigerated (4°C) and brought to room temperature before testing.
2. At the time of carrying out the test, the sample is mixed again by at least 12 inversion movements (or by automatic mixer), ensuring proper homogenization between the additive and the blood.
3. We gently remove the caps from the tubes (on those that do not have the “cut cap” or “pierceable cap” system). The pipette is inserted into the respective tubes, and filled by raising the built-in piston, until the blood reaches ZERO-CLOSE.
4. Once the pipettes are filled, placed them in the appropriate mark supports (in a vertical position and in an area free of vibrations, movements, temperature between 18 to 25ºC and avoiding direct exposure to sunlight).
5. The first reading is performed at 1 hour and the second reading at 2 hours. The readings can be taken directly from the scale printed on the pipette or using automated methods.
Conditions for performing a correct reading:
• The amount of blood introduced must match the nominal volume for which the tube is defined.
• The column filling must be continuous and must not contain air bubbles.
